Love what you are doing. I wish the Main Street sculpture was more horizontal than vertical in order for people to get closer to it. The Ross Hotel is great - would like to see add a few motion detectors that would have the I ---- statements as people walk by. Keep up the good work. Ann Treadwell
Thank you for giving your time to make Chattanooga more lovely, interesting, and attractive! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. By doing what you do with caring for and helping others to enrich their lives for the better will go on for generations to come! Thank you, thank you!
Thanks to Mark Making for the gift of expression and creativity they gave to Chattanooga's homeless! To Francis, Julie, Tina, and all the facilitators for their time, dedication, and spirit...KUDOS!!!
For those of us that work closely with many of these individuals, there are times that "homeless" feels like "hopeless." The "Homes" sculpture will be a constant touchstone that this is NOT the case.
Everyone has a story to tell, and as one tile so eloquently stated: "We were all once just babies held close in our mother's arms."
In times that many are prone to stigmatize the homeless as "alcoholics," "drug addicts," "crazy," and "losers," it is nice to apply adjectives like "talented," "creative," and "insightful."
For people so focused on the basic needs of daily living, the opportunity this sculpture afforded them was a much needed respite from the challenge that is their life. I would encourage all that stroll down Main St. to stop and read the tiles or "smell the roses," if you will; many of us are only a few paychecks...an injury or illness...or a bad decision...away.
